Like all Americans, we can hardly believe what we see on TV about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf coast. Each day shows more devastation and misery with no end in sight for the majority of the people living in the Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama area, where we have about 60 members. The Ferrari Club of America is contributing $5,000 to the Salvation Army for Hurricane Katrina relief. In addition, some of the Club's regions have already raised funds from their members for the relief effort. Please join us by contributing whatever you can afford directly to groups such as the Red Cross, the Salvation Army or one of many church organizations. These groups have the experience to use your contribution responsibly to help our fellow Americans who are without homes and jobs, and are needing food, shelter and the basic necessities. They may have lost family members or friends, and life as they knew it is gone. Many of them don't even have the small comfort of being able to search the ruins of their homes to pick up a few small pieces of their former lives. It will be a long time before many people will be able to return to a place that was once home, where they had a job and shared an end of summer picnic with their neighbors. Again, if you are going to contribute money, do not send it to the FCA. Please send money directly to the charity you choose. I know all of you will join us in keeping those affected by Hurricane Katrina in your thoughts and prayers.
